The Panel aims to sow the seeds of change by getting involved in the improvement of the local environment.

Great Harwood PROSPECTS Panel was set up 10 years with local residents and representatives of other local groups to help improve Great Harwood's local environment and improve access to surrounding green areas.

The Panel is a diverse one with individual members who also have links with other community organisations such as Great Harwood Civic Society and Harwood Bar Residents Association.  Each member brings their ideas to Panel meetings which help towards organising various practical environment projects in the town.

We like to work with other local groups or residents in Great Harwood.  Examples of our work include Edge End Wood and Whalley Road/Hyndburn Road wood with local residents where we have carried out small tree felling, created wildlife habitats and planted bulbs or hedgerows which have improved the area for both local people and wildlife.  Another example is our partnership work with Lancashire County Council and Great Harwood Civic Society where we have made improvements to the Great Harwood Nature Walk and other footpaths around Great Harwood.  A new walks booklet has been produced and is available form Great Harwood library.

We also work with Hyndburn Borough Council Parks and Open Spaces officers, local schools, the Hyndburn Green Spaces Forum and The PROSPECTS Foundation.
